Harley Davidson, Cambridge

When Brian Duncan and his sons Mike and Jeff set out to build their dream Harley Davidson dealership in Cambridge, they had a vision.  They wanted a unique local industrial look and feel.   Utilizing construction materials that resembled the Harley brand of being sustainable, tough, durable with raw performance they chose natural finishes.   This vintage yet modern look retail store features: a brick focal wall with a mural of the historic Blackbridge in Hespeler.  Black and white photos of vintage Harley Davidson motorcycles, exposed steel deck ceilings, barn board accents and highly polished concrete floors are some of the impressive accents.

Brian says he chose polished concrete floors “because they fit the industrial look and were different than the other 2 Harley dealerships in London and Kitchener”.

BNE Contractors took the time to work with Brian and his interior design team.  We consulted on various finish options and prepared colour samples in our shop that they could see and touch to be certain that they would work with the overall colour scheme they were after.

The process involved grinding to expose the salt and pepper aggregate, the floors were then coloured during the polishing process using a concrete dye.  Once the colour set the floors were polished to 1500 grit, high gloss finish.   An impregnator was applied to the concrete to make the colour pop, protect the colour and provide enhanced stain protection against spills.  Finally saw cuts were filled with colour matched polyuria semi rigid filler to  create a uniform colour throughout the floor.  The end result is a very impressive highly reflective floor that accentuates the Harley brand.

“ We love the floor….they guys were great….and did a great job”, Jeff Duncan.
